BANGALORE: Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation (KSHDC), a Government of Karnataka subsidiary, is toying with the idea of introducing online sale of handicrafts on a pilot basis in the city. Considering that city’s growing traffic is driving less customers to handicrafts showroom, the KSHDC plans to introduce online sales in Bangalore. Products available at the outlet will be put up for sale online. Ordered handicraft items would be delivered on the same day.KSHDC managing director, Ashok Kumar Singh, told Express that they were working on shortlisting a courier firm and a bank for online transactions. Besides, customers need not travel to the handicrafts showroom on M G Road to take a look at the products. Singh said that online sales would be launched after other processes were completed. The KSHDC enjoys a goodwill among its customers, both in domestic and foreign, and this has helped the corporation reach customers across the world. The purpose of introducing online sales is to know the response of public. If it is patronised well, the KSHDC plans to come up out with other similar ideas, remarked Singh.Products to be Updated ImmediatelySingh said the corporation immediately would replace items that are sold out. Also, the artisans, from whom the handicrafts are purchased are told to deliver the selected items immediately.
