Sonia slams Gujarat govt for anarchy
Law-and-order situation in Gujarat has come to such a stage that anything can happen any time, said Sonia Gandhi.

New Delhi: Launching a strong attack on the Narendra Modi government, Sonia Gandhi on Saturday said that crime and lawlessness have increased considerably and even women are being targeted in Gujarat.

“It's sad that number of atrocities against women is rising, along with other crimes. The law and order situation in Gujarat is miserable,” said Sonia.

Law-and-order situation has come to such a stage that anything can happen any time, she added.

With elections in this state later this year, the Congress President is virtually setting the agenda for the party in Gujarat. She addressed a rally on Saturday in the tribal dominated Dahod district.

Catering to the tribals in Gujarat she said no forestland had been given to tribals since 1995 when the BJP came to power in the state.

Refuting allegations made by Chief Minister Narendra Modi that Centre is discriminating against Gujarat, Sonia said, "Central government is helping Gujarat through various schemes but everyone here knows how honestly these schemes are being implemented by the state government."

Attributing the country’s development to her late husband, Sonia also said, development of this country is due to steps taken by Rajiv Gandhi when he was the prime minister.
