One soldier was killed and three others were injured during a gunbattle with terrorists in Chatroo village of Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Naidgham area of the Chhatroo belt, as per police officials.
There was an exchange of fire between security forces’ search teams and terrorists hiding in the Pingnal Dugadda forest area, in the upper reaches of Naidgham village, under the jurisdiction of the Chhatroo Police Station, police added.
The White Knight Corps of the Indian Army shared the incident on the social media platform X, stating that a joint operation with the Jammu and Kashmir Police was launched based on intelligence inputs.
“Based on the intelligence inputs, a joint operation with J&K Police was launched in area Chatroo at #Kishtwar,” the corps said.

The corps confirmed that contact with the terrorists was established at 3:30 PM.
“In the ensuing firefight four army personnel have been injured. The operation is in progress,” they added.
Earlier today, two terrorists were killed in an encounter at J&K’s Khandara, Kathua, by security forces.
“Two terrorists were neutralised in the ongoing operation at Khandara Kathua by troops of the Rising Star Corps. Operations in progress,” the Rising Star Corps of the Indian Army posted on X.
