BANGALORE: The government, which has decided to make the state a hutless state, will build highrise housing complexes for slum dwellers and improve their conditions of living, Housing Minister V Somanna said.
The minister visited and inspected slums in Mallasandra, Ravindra Nagara, Sidhartha Naragar in Dasarahalli constituency and assured the residents that housing complexes will be built for them and the title deeds will be distributed in the next six months. He started the inspection from MLA's Muniraju and later visited all places in the constituency.

Speaking to reporters after the inspection, Somanna said, "The State Government has decided to provide houses to all families living in over 571 slums in and around Bangalore city in the next few years. Of the 571 slums in the city, only 244 have been notified. Slums have come up everywhere in the city on BBMP land, government land, and some on private land too. A committee has been set up in the Housing Department to prepare a report on the present condition of slums. Necessary steps will be taken to develop the slums or shift people from slums in the city very soon."

Corporators and department officials were present during the inspection.
