GURUVAYUR: The beefed-up security of the Sree Krishna temple here was further tightened on Thursday by deploying additional force and armed personnel around the temple and its premises. Thrissur range IG of police B Sandhya along with city Police Commissioner P Vijayan reviewed the strengthened security arrangements. The security was tightened after the receipt of letter on Wednesday stating that bombs have been planted around the temple. The security would be increased or reduced according to the investigation procedures. Both the Devaswom and the police had jointly decided to implement a hi-tech security system, Sandhya told Express. A police team is also conducting a probe in Chennai, where the origin of the letter was traced to. Sandhya also directed the police to monitor the security checking of the devotees and to ensure a friendly atmosphere. A police team led by DySP of Police Intelligence from Coimbatore also arrived here and gathered details from Kerala police about the threat letter. Even though the security has been strengthened, the police ensured devotee-friendly arrangements and have not created any inconvenience to thousands devotees who thronged the temple on Thursday. Devaswom administrator K Raghuraman said that security arrangements inside the temple have also been tightened without disturbing the darsanam. Apart from earlier restrictions of mobile phone, cameras and electronic equipments, Devaswom has restricted hand baggages and water bottle inside the temple. Ample drinking water for devotees are made available inside the temple, the administrator added.
