New Delhi: After declaring a day's holiday in schools on Monday, the Lucknow district administration is mulling to extend it as cold wave continues to grip North India. The Ghaziabad administration has already shut schools till January 12.
Lucknow DM Kaushal Raj Sharma on Monday instructed to close all government and private schools in the city and said that holiday may be extended if the temperature dips further, patrika.com reported.
In Western Uttar Pradesh also several districts, including Shamli, Saharanpur and Bijnor, have also declared holiday in schools after cold wave intensified in the northern regions following snowfall in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
The officials from Basic Education Board, Uttar Pradesh have also instructed schools to start classes at 10: 00 am.
According to reports, the district administration of Siwan district in Bihar has also ordered to declare holiday till January 12 for classes till eighth. For class 9 and above, the schools will begin at 9:30 am.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the low temperature and cold conditions would prevail for the coming four-five days.
