Saina Nehwal lashes out on Twitter after Padma Bhushan snub
The ace Indian shuttler sent out a series of tweets citing rules why she is eligible and the nominated Sushil Kumar not for the prestigious award.

India's ace shuttler Saina Nehwal has made her discontent over the Padma Bhushan snub public as the Hyderabad-based player came out on Twitter to express her disappointment over the decision taken by the Sports Ministry of India (SAI).

SAI overlooked the suggestion of Saina's name made by the Badminton Association of India in October last year and decided in favour of renowned wrestler Sushil Kumar for India's third highest civilian award.

Saina mince no words on the microblogging site, sending out tweet after tweet, where she also explained how Sushil is ineligible to receive the prestigious award.

The shuttler said since Sushil received the Padma Shri in 2011, he is not eligible for Padma Bhushan or the Padma Vibhushan before five years. Saina added that her application last year was rejected citing that rule but Sushil has been made an exception.

"I got the Padma Shri in 2010 and there is a policy that u can get the next Padma award only after 5 years and this year I completed my five Years," read one of her series of tweets (see tweets below).

The Sports Ministry may now be in a dilemma to whether or not withdraw Sushil's name, which might also upset India's wrestling fraternity.
