New Delhi: In a major blow to the credibility of the Mayawati Government and police in Uttar Pradesh, the judicial probe ordered in the death of Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr YS Sachan has now found that he was indeed murdered.
The Allahabad High Court has even gone so far as to order that the Uttar Pradesh police pull out of the investigations and appoint a different agency to look into the case.
"The state wants an SIT to look into it. We are asking for a CBI probe. The court will now take matter forward," lawyer Nadeem Murtaza said.
On the same day, the Uttar Pradesh police also arrested Lucknow's former chief medical officer AK Shukla for embezzlement of funds. Shukla had been under the scanner for his role in the murder of Lucknow CMOs BP Singh and Vinod Arya, along with Dr Sachan. But with no leads yet on who could have murdered Dr Sachan, the Allahabad High court will now decide which agency will take the investigations forward on July 14.
