BANGALORE: Following the arrest of a cattle thief, about 50 people gathered at Basaveshwaranagar police station claiming that the recovered cattle belonged to them. The police had arrested, Ramesh (43), a resident of Kamalanagar, in connection with cattle thefts and had recovered six cows from him. He had allegedly committed thefts at Basaveshwarangar, Kamakshipalya and Vrishabhavathinagar.The public learnt about this and came to the police station and attacked Mouz Khan, an accomplice of the accused. The police controlled the crowd and saved Khan from them. But the public ire turned towards police and they tried to attack policemen. A policeman was injured in the incident.However, the police controlled the situation.
