Though all tickets were sold out, visitors at Aviation Expo kept complaining about lack of facilities in the event...

HYDERABAD: Evidently angry with the organisers were  visitors at the third edition of the international conference of civil aviation in Hyderabad on Saturday. From parking spaces to the walkway, lack of shelters, high-handedness of security guards, they definitely had a lot to complain about. The fourth day of the five-day India Aviation 2012, which was open for the general public, witnessed disappointed and exhausted visitors. Organisers at FICCI informed Express that tickets of both sessions were sold out, which included 5,000 tickets per session. Tickets for both the sessions of the fifth day were made available at the venue late in the evening.“I was already tired by the time I got an entry into the exhibition. We had to park our vehicle at the Hyderabad Public School and walk for more than two km in the heat till the entrance and then queue for more than 30 minutes to enter the place,” said Ashok Gandi, an IBM employee. Adding to this was his wife Gayatri Devi, who said “our three-year-old daughter loves planes, so we brought her here. But, there are no shelters here to even get some shade.”Sheikh Abdul Shukur, a real estate agent, who travelled all the way from Paramura, Ongole district was very upset with the shabby way the exhibition was organised. A walkway in the airport that provides a proper view of the aircrafts at display was closed due to large turnout. This crushed the only hope, the visitors had of getting a good view. Abdul and a few fellow visitors had a heated argument with the security guards, after which the barricade was removed. All of us spent so much money to come here, from different part of the country. Nobody is taking responsibility of at least letting us go near a display, he said adding that”there is so much security here, which is not required. At least we could breathe in around the place.”E Kaveri, a mother who had come with her excited son Akhil, expressed that the organisers should have changed the timings. “The timings are exactly the hottest hours of the day. They should have started it in the morning, from 8-11 and the evening session, from 5 to late night. They should create sufficient lighting for people, she said. A majority of the aviations students who had come with the hope of getting a glimpse of the Boeing Dreamliner 787, were equally disappointed. A group of students from Sri Indu Institute of Technology Sridhar Repaka, Shruti Jakkula, Bhavani G and A Sravan had a lot to complain. “I was hoping to see the Dreamliner, but now looks like I have to wait for a longer time to see it,” lamented  Sridhar.
