Rise of Narendra Modi is spiralling communal incidents: Prakash Karat
Claiming the rise of Narendra Modi as one of the main reasons behind spiralling incidents of communal violence in the country, CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat on Sunday accused a section of large capitalists of supporting Modi.

Claiming the rise of Narendra Modi as one of the main reasons behind spiralling incidents of communal violence in the country, CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat on Sunday accused a section of large capitalists of supporting Modi.

"The Congress-led UPA is getting alienated from the masses by following neo-liberal policies and BJP is taking advantage of such situation. By keeping Narendra Modi as BJP's face, RSS is trying to come forward," a statement of CPI(M) quoted Karat.

"A section of large capitalists and fundamentalists are supporting Modi. Incidents of communal violence are increasing in various parts of the country including Bihar and Uttar Pradesh," Karat said.

He also underlined that by keeping in mind the danger of communalism and neo-liberalism, the Left have to work towards unity of non-Congress and non-BJP forces.

Karat, along with CPI(M) politburo member Biman Bose and Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, were present at the extended CPI(M) state committee meet in Kolkata on Sunday.

Bhattacharjee on Sunday again called for rectification within the party.

"If we have to fight against the policies of the state and Centre, then have to reach out to the masses. And in order to do that, we have to come up with a clean and developed party, a kind of party that people want to see," he said.
