Patna: Escalating the power struggle within the Janata Dal United, Bihar Chief Minister M Jitan Ram Manjhi on Friday night recommended dismissal of two Nitish Kumar loyalist ministers Rajiv Ranjan Singh Lallan and PK Shahi to Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi.
The move came after Manjhi defied his party chief Sharad Yadav's diktat and called for JDU Legislative Party meet on February 20.
According to sources, the legislative body meeting scheduled on Saturday is expected to name former Bihar CM NItish Kumar as its leader dethroning Manjhi from the post. Sources also say the Bharatiya Janata Party may rescue Manjhi in such a scenario.
A Rashtriya Janata Dal MLA, Raghvendra Prartap Singh, announced his support for the troubled Bihar CM. Over 30 JDU MLAs are reported to be with Manjhi including Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh.
Manjhi was named as Bihar CM on May 17, 2014 after then CM and JDU leader Nitish Kumar resigned due to the party's poor show in the Lok Sabha elections where it could win only two seats.
