New Delhi: For the first time in almost six years, things seem to be finally falling into place for India's very own Sania Mirza who won her second successive doubles title by lifting the Family Circle Cup along with her Russian partner Elena Vesnina.
By beating Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Meghann Shaughnessy 6-4, 6-4 in the finals at Charleston, the Sania-Elena duo have kept the momentum going in their favour by following up on their prestigious Indian Wells title at Miami last month.
The Indo-Russian pair seems to be enjoying a golden run of form and interestingly it was Mattek-Sands and Shaughnessy who came up second best in the finals at Miami as well.
Meanwhile, Sania is not doing too badly in the singles events, unfortunately for her the results are not coming her way.
She made it to the last eight at Charleston before going down to Chinese 11th seed Peng Shuai in three sets 6-2, 2-6, 2-6.
In Miami, Sania allowed a 7-5, 3-0 advantage to slip away against Russia's Maria Kirilenko who strung together a series of nine games to win 5-7, 6-3, 6-0.
In the latest rankings, Sania has moved up to 73 in singles but has still some way to go considering that she was ranked as high as 27 early in her career.
After making the headlines all over India in 2005 by reaching the last 16 of the US Open, Sania has had to deal with a downward slide which never seemed to end.
Loss of form and a career threatening wrist injury has seen her battle it out in the qualifying rounds of grand slam tournaments for a place in the main draw.
However, Sania has done no harm to her doubles credentials, having gone all the way in the 2009 Australian Open mixed doubles segment with Mahesh Bhupathi and winning the 2006 Asian Games gold with Leander Paes.
If her recent success is a sign of things to come, then it's great news for her supporters who will be longing for her to shine on the big stage once again.
Sania getting into the act is something that was long overdue and hopefully it will be a lengthy affair this time around.
