BANGALORE: Delayed footpath renovation works at Lazar Road falling under the Pulikeshinagar Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike ward has become a cause of concern for the residents and commuters. When City Express visited the ward the residents complained about the delayed works. "The footpaths were dug up around 15 days ago. Till date the work has not been taken up by the Palike. We are finding if difficult to get in and come out of our homes. Because of this we are unable to park our vehicles in fron of our homes and we end up parking it on the road," said Sathya, a resident. He further added, "We understand that footpaths are being developed for our benefit. If the works were started on time, it can be finished in a matter of not more than three to four days without causing any inconvenience. But, the works have not started even after 15 days".When we took up the issue with the ward corporator Abdul Rakib Zakir, he said, "The work got delayed as some of the sanitary lines were found mixed up with the borewells, leading to contamination. Some sanitary pipes were also found leaking. We took some time to plug up the leakages."He assured that the works will start within a day or two. He further added that the footpaths will be given a new look. "Footpaths will be laid with stone slabs and not with the cement slabs. The existing stone on the footpaths will be clearly cut, will be given a new look and placed. Cement slabs last only for two years, while the latter lasts for more than 10 years." Some residents also complained about the poor water supply. "We depend on borewell for all our water needs. We are supplied with drinking water only on alternate days," said Lokesh.
