VELLORE: The grand Red Ribbon Express, which travels across the country to spread awareness on AIDS, will arrive at Vellore Cantonment on April 26 and will be stationed there from 8 hrs to 18 hrs. A consultative meeting in this regard took place at the Vellore Collectorate on Sunday.The express train consists of eight coaches, which house a photo exhibition on AIDS, a 3D model exhibition with sensors, charts, models related to HIV symptoms and models and procedures on how a HIV-affected person should be treated. Three seminars will be held in the coaches everyday. Seminars will be conducted for 60-member teams, which include village nurses, Women Self Help Groups, Anganwadi workers, youth and Panchayati Raj members. Four counsellors and two physicians, who will conduct health check ups, will also travel on the train. Besides these, pamphlets, notices, exhibitions and advertisement banners explaining the prevention, cause and effects of the disease will be displayed at the railway station. Apart from these, awareness charts on swine flu and other infectious diseases will also be displayed on the train.Vellore Collector Ajay Yadav led the meeting and Joint Director of Medical Works, Chandranathan, District AIDS Control Officer and Deputy Director for Health, Somasundharam and other officials participated in the meet.
