RC Deka appointed the new AIIMS director

New Delhi: Dean of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and also the head of ENT department Dr RC Deka was appointed the new AIIMS director for the next five years on Tuesday.

Deka’s name for the top job was cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.

"The orders for the appointment of Dr Deka have been issued today. He will be taking charge with immediate effect. His tenure will be for next five years or till further orders are issued," Health Secretary Naresh Dayal said.

The coveted post of AIIMS chief was looked after by acting director Dr TD Dogra after the retirement of former director P Venugopal in July last year.
