HYDERABAD: If the Congress neglects its senior leaders, its winning chances in the 2014 general elections will be very slim, party senior leader and MP from Guntur Rayapati Sambasiva Rao has warned.Speaking to mediapersons at the Secretariat here on Saturday after meeting chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, he said the Kamma community, which had been with the Congress since 1983 and took on Teleugu Desam founder and former chief minister NT Rama Rao, was unfortunately being neglected now.“Kammas have been supporting the Congress for decades. But, if by- elections are held in the Macherla and Prattipadu Assembly constituencies, the winning chances of the party's candidates will be slender.''Rao alleged that a minister hailing from Guntur was not taking local leaders into confidence and was resorting to one-man show. Those who had obtained positions in the government should take the responsibility of ensuring the victory of the party candidates in the by-elections in Pattipadu and Macherla. He said his community members were scoffing at him and other leaders for remaining silent even though injustice was being done to them. “Even if the party offers us posts now, we will not take them. But we will remain in the party.'' he said.Commenting on the response to YSR Congress president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's Odarpu Yatra in Guntur district and other parts of the state, Rao said that when people on their own rushed to listen to a leader, no one could stop them.
