Ramp Buzz: Simply Sabyasachi
Ramp Buzz: Simply Sabyasachi
Day Three at the Lakme Fashion Week was all about Sabyasashi Mukherjee's post-modernist collection - unlayered dresses.

Mumbai: It was Sabyasachi's day at the Lakme Fashion Week runway on Thursday. And if you thought that Sabyasachi Mukherjee was all about heavily textured surfaces, intricate borders, and layered hemlines, then lo and behold, the man is trying to set himself free of trademark stamps.

"I am very satisfied because it just got the best out of me. I decided to give up my strengths and my trademark styles to bring this out," says Sabyasachi.

This post-modernist collection was all about colours. It had olives, seagreens and onions on flowing unlayered dresses. And coupled with stockings and flat shoes, they should have harked back to 1920's.

Yet the feel was anything but retrograde. Rather futuristic in its simplicity, loose silhouettes, with semi-gown-like-feels dominated Sabya's runway.

"It's just beautiful, well executed. He had it all going for him," says Albert Morris, a buyer from Browns.

The Kolkata boy's good friends from the film industry also made an apperance to back up the designer.

"I felt really nice coming here because his collection is very different and classy," Bollywood actor Rani Mukherji said.

Clearly, with applauses from international buyers even for experimentation, its time for sabya to take a bow.
