Rajasthan police have reopened a history sheet against the father of a Congress MLA and local leader Gazi Fakir, who in the past has been allegedly involved in smuggling and other anti-social activities in the border areas of the state.

Fakir, the father of Congress legislator Saleh Mohammad, had a history sheet opened against him for the first time on July 31, 1965 but that file went missing in 1984.

Although the history sheet was reopened after six years in 1990, it was closed in May 2011 by an ASP-rank official when he had been holding charge as SP.

Pointing out that the closure of the history sheet had been unlawful, sources said that the same was therefore reopened on July 31.

"Following a direction from the ADG, the history sheet for Gazi (has been) reopened.

"His suspicious activities will now be properly monitored by local police," a senior police officer said.
