THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police are still groping in the dark over the culprits who allegedly sexually harassed a twelve-year-girl living in the Raj Bhavan quarters.  The search for Benser, the prime accused in the case, which was launched a few weeks back, has not reached anywhere till now. The girl, who was residing with her mother at the Raj Bhavan quarters, was subjected to sexual harassment by her stepfather for the past few years. But it came to light only early this month when the teachers developed doubts about the behaviour of the girl, following which they informed the police with the help of Childline.  “The girl was harassed by the third husband of her mother. The mother already knew about the incident, but she did not reveal it out of fear. Now, the Child Welfare Committee has   accommodated the child in a safe place,” said  Childline centre coordinator Reshmi.  The police said that Benser had sexually harassed the girl, while his friends Binu and Vinod also had a role. The police, in the initial stage, were focusing their search for Benser on the coastal area of Poonthura since he belonged to that place. But the search which started in the first week of January has not yielded any result yet. “Now, we have shifted the focus to a town area following a tip-off,” said Museum CI Mohanan Nair.
