New Delhi: To bring health benefits to tens of thousands of people, the Railways Ministry has joined hands with the health ministry to set up 522 hospitals and diagnostic centres at railway stations and nearby localities.
"With the cooperation of the Union Ministry of Health, it is expected that about 522 hospitals and diagnostic centres will be set up which will benefit railway employees and their children in a big way," Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Wednesday while presenting the Railway Budget 2010-11 in parliament.
She said Outpatient Departments (OPD) and diagnostic centres will be set up in places like Agartala, Agra Cantt, Aligarh, Amethi, Amritsar, Balasore, Bhubaneswar, Bardhaman, Delhi Cantt, Howrah and Itanagar.
They will also be set up in Lalgarh, Lucknow, Machilipatnam, Madhepura, Madhubani, Satna, Sawai Madhopur, Secunderabad, Sewagram, Shahganj, Shakurbasti, Sri Satya Sai Prashanti Nilayam, Srikalahasti, Trichur, Tumkur, Tuni, Udhampur, Una, Vidisha, Vizianagaram, and Warangal
