New Delhi: After his controversial two-month long sabbatical in early this year, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday left for United States for five days.
Sources said that he is travelling to visit his ailing grandmother. He will be back to lead the party in upcoming Bihar polls. An official statement from his office said, "Mr Rahul Gandhi is on a shot personal trip. He will be back in five days to lead the party in Bihar polls. "
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also expected to be in US for his seven day official trip from September 23-29. He will be addressing the United Nations General Assembly.
The 45-year old Congress Vice president had earlier in February gone for a 56-day sabbatical which sparked controversy.
