Panaji: R Madhavan's fame as a Bollywood star with films like 'Rang De Basanti' and '3 Idiots' didn't help him gain access to the biggest film festival in India. The actor did not have a pass to the IFFI here and security guards denied him entry at the gate.
Madhavan was here on Tuesday to attend the felicitation of his '3 Idiots' co-star Omi Vaidya. The latter's documentary 'Big In Bollywood' was also screened at the event. Vaidya said that Madhavan, who also features in his documentary, was on his way to the event.
But Madhavan did not turn up. Eye witnesses said that the actor waited at the gate for two minutes, and left afterwards. IFFI director Shankar Mohan told PTI, "I wasn't even aware that Madhavan was here. We would have loved to have him at the festival. The people who had invited him should have made arrangements for his pass."
Madhavan is currently in Goa to shoot for his upcoming film 'Jodi Breakers' also starring Vaidya and Bipasha Basu.
