BANGALORE: As if the ongoing drama and the continued stalemate over the selection of caretaker chief minister B S Yeddyurappa's successor was not enough, state BJP leaders are now indulging in a 'whisper campaign' to defame their own leaders who are in the race for the top post. For, the documents and unsigned notes detailing the alleged illegal deeds of Ananthkumar, Jagadish Shettar and D V Sadananda Gowda are found to be circulated in the media. The campaign is mainly aimed at scuttling the chances of their rivals from becoming the CM on the eve of the crucial legislature party meeting to be held on Wednesday to elect the new chief minister. On Tuesday, allegations of violation of BDA rules by UdupiChikmagalur MP D V Sadananda Gowda in amalgamating his residential site in HSR Layout with that of Sringeri MLA D N Jeevraj surfaced. Both the sites were allotted under the CM's discretionary quota.Accoriding to BDA rules, no two sites shall be amalgamated without the permission of BDA. In this case, the BDA is said to have denied the permission. Also, Gowda is constructing a fourstoreyed building which, too, flouts regulations. At the most, three floors can be constructed in a single residential site.It may be worthwhile to note that similar charges were made against Yeddyurappa's son MP B Y Raghavendra last year. He was accused of illegally amalgamating his site with that of MLC Bharathi Shetty in Dollar's Colony. After the expose, he was forced to return the site to the BDA which has now been allotted to Basavaraj Patil Sedam.
