Press Club of India demands probe into Dey's case
The Press Club of India said Dey carried out his duties despite threats from various underworld organisations.

New Delhi: The Press Club of India on Sunday condemned the killing of Mumbai Mid-Day's journalist J Dey and asked Maharashtra government to order an inquiry into the incident.

"Dey had made a mark for himself and left an indelible impression through his incisive and investigative stories in whatever media organizations he had worked", a PCI statement said in New Delhi.

"The Press Club of India demands from Maharashtra government to hold an in-depth enquiry into the veteran journalist's killing so that the culprits could be brought to book immediately," PCI Vice President Anil Anand said.

"Dey was a fearless journalist who had been carrying out his professional duties despite threats from various underworld organisations who had been the target of his writings", the PCI said.

The members of the club offer their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, it said.
