NEW DELHI: The central government will shortly take a decision on allowing export of rice from the state to other countries, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has said.Speaking to reporters after meeting Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee here on Sunday, the chief minister said that he had requested Mukherjee to consider export of 15 lakh tonnes of boiled rice and 10 lakh tonnes of raw rice from Andhra Pradesh to other countries through normal trade channels. A request was also made for a hike in the minimum support price of paddy by Rs 200 per quintal, he added The Union minister, who is also the chairman of the committee concerned, assured that he would convene a meeting shortly and take an appropriate decision on the matter, Reddy said.Union minister of state for human resource development D Purandeswari, Union minister of state for textiles Panabaka Lakshmi, MPs K Sambasiva Rao, T Subbarami Reddy, V Hanumantha Rao, Magunta Srinivasulu, Madhu Yashki Goud, G Harsha Kumar, JD Seelam and Chinta Mohan accompanied the chief minister for submission of a memorandum to Pranab Mukherjee.
