THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM general secretary Prakash Karat said that Indian politics is currently governed by a ruling class ideology and in this backdrop, it is imperative for a battle of ideologies to shape a more just society. Inaugurating the new building of the Chintha Publishers near the AKG Centre here on Saturday, he said that the publishing house had helped in promoting progressive ideology in the society at large. “We are trying to replace the bourgeois ideology with a progressive, revolutionary ideology in which Chintha has a greater role to play” he said. On corruption issue, Karat took a dig at L K Advani’s Jan Chethan yathra which will cover 27 states. When Advani announced the yathra, one scribe had asked him whether he would like start the yathra from Bellary, as it had become a symbol of the nexus of politicians and high-level corruption. Congress had along been in a denial mode on the issue of high-level corruption, Karat alleged. A union minister in the UPA Government had also put on record saying that there would not be any businessmen ready to invest in the country if those belonging to the business class were imprisoned for wrongdoing.‘A Pre-planned Conspiracy’Presiding over the function, CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan came down heavily on Chief Minister Oommen Chandy for his repeated stance blaming two Opposition MLAs for the alleged attack on a woman watch and ward staff member in the Assembly on Friday. But later it was at the insistence of the ruling party MLAs that the staff member had given her new version of the episode, Pinarayi alleged.Citing the police excesses at students who have been agitating on the Nirmal Madhavan admission issue, Pinarayi Vijayan termed Oommen Chandy as the most cruel Chief Minister the state had ever had. Inaugurating the new office of the Deshabhimani book house at the same function, Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan said that the ruling party wanted to suspend two Opposition MLAs as two ruling MLAs were absent at the time of incident. He also alleged that the woman watch and ward staff member might have been coerced to submit the complaint that she was attacked by the Opposition MLAs.Deputy leader of the Opposition Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, O N V Kurup, P Govinda Pillai, P K Chandranandan and others were present.
