Dibrugarh: A person was killed and over 20 others injured, including policemen, in a powerful bomb blast by the banned ULFA in upper Assam's Dhemaji district around midnight.
Official sources said the bomb exploded in an open field where a local festival Ali-Aie-Lrigang (Lrigang) was being celebrated near the telephone exchange at Jonai.
The injured had been taken to hospital, the sources said.
Senior police officials rushed there and cordoned off the area and launched relief and rescue operations immediately.
The ULFA has intensified its violent activities in the state since the last one week in the run up to its `Raising Day' today.
