Brisbane: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the most sought after leader at the G20 summit, said the sherpa to the PM, Suresh Prabhu.
At a press conference of the Ministry of External Affairs on Sunday in Brisbane, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu detailed the various issues raised by the PM at the summit. He said that several nations echoed the black money issue after Modi raised it.
The PM's Jan Dhan Yojna was also well appreciated at G20 summit, he said while adding that German Chancellor Angela Merkel in a discussion with the PM insisted that the German language should be taught to more students in India. It was also told that Modi is likely to visit Germany early next year.
Prabhu also said that the PM discussed the need for reforms to be people-centric,and that they should also be institutionalized.
The newly elected Railway Minister also said that Modi discussed apart from other things, a need for a global centre for renewable energy- an idea, which was widely welcomed.
Prabhu said that it was a good and fruitful summit and that the PM made a strong pitch for black money, followed by discussions on global infrastructure. Prabhu also mentioned another central theme of this summit: the economic growth rate- which the PM said needs to be improved with more investment.
