NUAGAON(SUNDARGARH): Hand-written posters, purportedly issued by organised criminal group __ People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) __ at the construction site of Jhirpani bridge on Friday sent panic waves among contract workers. Reports said a couple of posters was spotted at Mitkundri area of Nuagaon block under Hathibari police limits. A worker said the posters demanded a hefty extortion with the threat of dire consequences. The posters even warned workers to stop work till fulfilment of the extortion demand. However, Sundargarh SP Sanjeev Arora claimed no such poster has been recovered. Police are investigating into claims by workers, he said and added it could be a possible act of mischief by some local miscreants. PLFI, mostly involved in extortion, is active in Nuagaon block along Odisha-Jharkhand border.
