BANGALORE: The High Court on Thursday dismissed the PIL requesting the court to initiate contempt proceedings against one of the Kannada dailies for publishing derogatory remarks against the judiciary and imposed Rs 25,000 cost against the petitioner.
It was brought to the notice of the court that the petitioner had earlier filed a similar petition and had not complied with the court's direction to produce documents to substantiate his contention. The division bench consisting of Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice H G Ramesh found that the remarks made by the author of the article in question was general in nature and not specific. The bench asked the petitioner not waste the time of the court by filing such PILs in future and the petitioner refused to agree to it.
