Mumbai: Big trouble for former media baron Peter Mukerjea in the Sheena Bora murder case. He has been booked for murder, criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence in killing of his step daughter - Sheena. This is on the basis of a supplementary chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
The agency filed the supplementary chargesheet in the case before Additional Metropolitan Magistrate RV Adone in Mumbai.
The chargesheet does not mention any financial transactions. Sources said that a statement of a key witness detailing Peter's role in the conspiracy has been submitted in a sealed envelope.
The CBI had earlier told the special court that prime accused Indrani Mukerjea had informed her husband Peter about killing her daughter on April 24, 2012.
His bail plea was rejected on February 12 by a special CBI court which observed that the chargesheet was yet to be filed
and investigation in the matter was still on.
While Mukerjea (59) is lodged in Arthur Road prison here, Indrani is in Byculla women's jail.
"Indrani has admitted that she had told Peter about her daughter Sheena's murder on April 24, 2014, the day when the crime took place," the agency had told Special CBI judge HS Mahajan.
"Indrani had revealed this while recording her statement (before CBI) on December 15, 2015," CBI had said. The agency opposed the bail of Peter, who was arrested in the case in November 2015, on the ground that he was part of the murder conspiracy and had concealed information about the victim's disappearance from his son and Sheena's fiance Rahul.
"Peter was in touch with prime accused and his wife Indrani from the day of Sheena's murder and till her body was disposed the next day," it had said.
"He was also part of the conspiracy and had concealed the fact (about Sheena's death) from his son Rahul Mukerjea," it had added.
Sheena (24) was allegedly strangled in a car and then her body burnt and dumped in a forest in Raigad, about 84 kms from Mumbai. Indrani (43), her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and her ex-driver Shyamvar Rai have been charge\sheeted in the case. The victim was Indrani's daughter from an earlier relationship.
