Patna: Believe it or not, 42-year-old Suresh Yadav, a resident Kukri Bigha in Bihar's Ara District, has been relishing at least two kilogram of sand and a kilo of stones everyday for nearly five years.

Each morning, Yadav visits far off places on foot to search his favourite dish-sand and stones.

Unperturbed by friends and relatives repeated efforts to dissuade him, Yadav says that he eats sand and stones just because he enjoys it.

"I like to eat sand and stones and, if any day, I fail to get it makes me uncomfortable," says Suresh Yadav.

However, Yadav's strange habit is a big headache for his family. Time and again, they have tried to dissuade him but all efforts have failed.

"I am very worried. He does not listen to me or anyone in the village," said Maheshwaridevi, Suresh Yadav's wife.

But it is not as if Yadav is surviving on sand and stones only. He also takes normal food. But, surprisingly, he has not faced any medical problem due to eating sand or stones.

Doctors fear that Yadav may face some big health problems due to his habit of eating sand and stones.

"Today, the sand comes out along with food in the form of excreta but, in the future, Yadav many find it really difficult to pass it normally," said Dr Sahajanand Singh, Vice President, Indian Medical Association, Bihar State chapter.
