KOCHI: Two unclaimed parcels near the south gate of the South Railway Station created panic in the area on Friday afternoon. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) arrived at the spot and examined the contents.They found that the parcel contained a computer system belonging to a courier company which fell from a mini truck while it was being transported from the station.The police handed over the parcel to the owner of the courier company.According to Central police officials, they received a call at 1 pm on Friday informing them about two packages found abandoned near the railway station.A team rushed to the spot and found a well-packed box of 2.5 ft height lying near the road to the South Railway Station.“It appeared to be a genuine threat by the way the box was placed. Generally unclaimed baggage is not packed so well. We thus called the BDDS for assistance. The bomb squad came to the spot and examined the parcel. It was found that the parcel contained two computer systems which were being transported to the office of a courier company. Later the parcel was taken to the police station and handed over to its owner,” a police officer said.
