PUDUCHERRY: Factionalism within the Congress here came to the fore, with senior advisory council member of the Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) R Panneerselvam, who was suspended on June 5, turning up at the party office on Friday with a large group of his supporters. The supporters of Paneerselvam, a loyalist of Rajya Sabha member P Kannan, raised slogans against the showcause notice served on him.He had expressed his views against some ministers at the party meet on June 5 to analyse the reasons for its poor show in the Assembly polls. Later, he made his views public. He also denied allegations that the meet was stopped as he had abused party leaders and created disturbance along with his supporters. Panneerselvam, who came with the reply to the notice, waited for more than an hour to hand it over to PPCC president A V Subramanian. But, as he was away at Villupuram, he handed over the reply to his secretary.The reply is being scrutinised by the PPCC and a decision is expected to be taken in a couple of days.
