CHENNAI: On hearing about the abduction of Collector of Sukma, Alex Paul Menon, his Facebook page was awash with messages from friends and IAS batchmates wishing him a safe return.Batchmate, Ajay Yadav, Collector of Vellore, who described Paul as a “hardworking, brilliant and jovial person”, was worried about his safety and was keen on his safe return. His wife, Asha, whose is also known as Pushpa Packiyam, is an MBA graduate. She is three months pregnant now and is in Chhattisgarh. Her father T R Venugopal, retired as a chief engineer from LIC two months ago. Earlier, when he shared a visual of a quotation by Martin Luther King Jr, ‘I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear’ with his comment ‘grt words’, another officer in Chhattisgarh commented: ‘Sir, sure everything will be too much systematic in Sukma. Your vision will give real shape to challenges’. When Maoists had kidnapped Italian tourists in Odisha, Paul Menon’s status message read: ‘2 italian 2rists kidnapped by odisha maoists.. Their real face are exposed very nuv n thn’ (sic).
