A Pakistani national, who was on a onemonth visit to
Chennai and was not supposed to travel anywhere else, surfaced at Rayachoti in
Kadapa district, and was promptly arrested on Friday by the police.Though investigators have found nothing suspicious about
Nissar Ahmed so far, the fact that he violated the Visa norms and related
permits, led the police to register a case against him. Police also registered
cases against his Rayachoti- based friend, Pathan Shakeel Khan. Nissar Ahmed (42), who hails from Sanghar district in the
Sindh province of Pakistan, had left Pakistan for Saudi Arabia a few years ago
and worked as an interior decorator at Madina. Later, he developed
kidneyrelated ailments and wanted to visit Chennai for treatment. The Jeddah
authorities granted him a Visa which was valid for 30 days from July 15. On his
arrival in Chennai on July 16, local police allowed him to visit only Global
Hospital for treatment and his place of stay. Except the two he was not
permitted to visit any other place. But on August 19 Ahmed left Chennai for Rayachoti where his
friend Shakeel resides and decided to celebrate Eid with his family. ‘’He was
also in need of money and sought Shakeel’s help. Shakeel had promised to give
him Rs 25,000,’’ police sources said. Shakeel too works in Saudi Arabia. He is
working as a salesman in a computer shop in the holy city of Mecca and had come
home to Rayachoti for Eid.Nissar was supposed to return to Chennai on August 23 but
the police, acting on a tip-off, took him and Shakeel into custody at Bose
Nagar in Rayachoti. They said that though Nissar Ahmed’s visa had expired, he
told interrogators that he had applied for extension as his treatment got
delayed. ‘’He claims to have applied for extension of his entry/exit visa in
Chennai. As per rules, he is supposed to have informed the Kadapa police about
his arrival which he did not do deliberately as his visa had expired,’’ sources
said.Confirming the arrest, Kadapa superintendent of police
Manish Kumar Sinha said cases were registered against Nissar Ahmed and Shakeel
Khan under Section 7 of the Foreigners Order, 1948 read with 14 of Foreigners
Act, 1946, and both were remanded in judicial custody.‘’Shakeel Khan was supposed to inform the local police about
Nissar’s arrival in the district which he did not,’’ police said. To verify his claims, Kadapa police contacted the Global
Hospital officials in Chennai who confirmed that Nissar was undergoing
treatment there.
