Pakistan hockey players target of protest in Mumbai
Shiv Sainiks and Hindu Yuwak Sabha members gathered outside Mumbai's Churchgate Stadium, where the Mumbai Magicians team was practising.

New Delhi: Two Hindu Yuwak Sabha men tried to disrupt proceedings at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium here during the inaugural match of the Hockey India League (HIL) on Monday. But that was not on the only protest against the participation of Pakistan players in the league. Members of Shiv Sena and Hindu Yuvwak Sabha also came out in protest outside the Churchdate Stadium; however, things didn't get out of control.

Ever since two India soldiers were killed by the Pakistan Army at the Line of Control (LOC), relations between the two estranged neighours have become tense, leding to the clamour against the participation of Pakistan players in the HIL.

Shiv Sainiks and Hindu Yuwak Sabha members gathered outside Mumbai's Churchgate Stadium, where the Mumbai Magicians team was practising and shouted slogans after which the players exited from the rear gate. The team features three players from Pakistan.

On Monday in Delhi, a couple of Hindu Yuwak Sabha member carrying placards managed to invade the playing area during the opening match of the HIL between Delhi Waveriders and Jaypee Punjab Warriors. They managed to escape everyone's eye and ran onto the pitch, shouting slogans against Pakistan to show their protest. However, they were immediately overpowered by the security guards.
