Pak pledges cooperation in eliminating terrorism
Pakistan's Foreign Office reiterated its resolve for a 'more tolerant and humane world'.

Islamabad: As the world observed the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks in the US, Pakistan on Sunday pledged to strengthen international cooperation to eliminate terrorism and asked the world community to uphold ideals like tolerance.

In a special message issued on the occasion, Pakistan's Foreign Office reiterated its resolve for a "more tolerant and humane world".

It said: "As a country that has been severely affected by terrorism, we reaffirm our national resolve to strengthening international cooperation for the elimination of terrorism."

The message added: "It is also appropriate that today the global community renew its commitment to uphold the noble ideals of tolerance, humanity, brotherhood and friendship amongst all peoples and its determination to work or creating a better world."

It said that Pakistan joined the "people of the United States and of the world in honouring the memory of all those who lost their lives on September 11, as well as those who have been victims of terrorism around the world".

Despite Pakistan's role as a key ally in the US-led war on terror, relations between the two countries plunged to an all-time low in the aftermath of the covert American raid that killed al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in the garrison

city of Abbottabad on May 2.

Since then, the US has suspended the delivery of military aid and asked Pakistan to do more against terrorists based on its soil.
