New Delhi: Leander Paes has been knocked out of the men's doubles at the Wimbledon.
Partnering Martin Damm of the Czech Republic, Paes went down in four sets to Fabrice Santoro of France and Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia in the quarter-finals on Friday.
Paes and Damm, seeded fifth for the tournament, split the first two sets with the No 4 seeds but ran out of steam after that to finally lose the match 7-6 (6), 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-3.
In the other matches of the men's doubles the Brazilian pair of Marcelo Melo and Andre Sa beat third seed Mark Knowles of the Bahamas and Daniel Nestor of Canada in straight sets 6-4, 6-3, 6-4.
Arnaud Clement and Michael Llodra of France, seeded 10th too had an easy time against the American-Israeli pair of Rajeev Ram and Harel Levy winning 6-3, 6-2, 6-2.
Top ranked pair of Bob and Mike Bryan of the US defeated Lukas Dlouhy and Pavel Vizner of the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.
But Paes had a good outing in the mixed doubles along with Meghan Shaunessy. The pair beat Todd Perry of Australia and Chia-Jung Chuang of Taiwan in the third 7-5, 7-5.
