The police of two states have failed to track down Biti.

Bhubaneswar: A public outcry to prosecute tainted police officers has prompted the Rajasthan Police to renew efforts to nab the son of one Orissa's top cops. DGP BB Mohanti's son Biti - a rape convict - has been absconding for more than three years. But in Orissa, it's business as usual. BB Mohanti - who allegedly helped his son jump parole - was reinstated in May last year.

The Opposition Congress is now crying foul.

Congress Leader and former law minister, Narsingh Mishra says, "In such a serious case, he should not have been reinstated. But here in Orissa, the police and the government help each other in their misdeeds. There is a nexus which worked."

When CNN-IBN contacted Orissa's Home Secretary to know what disciplinary action has been taken against BB Mohanti, he refused to comment.

Meanwhile questions are also being the Rajasthan Police efforts to track down Biti.

Former director general of police, Orissa, AB Tripathy says, "It seems that the Rajasthan Police are going slow on the case and there is absolutely no excuse on their part for not taking help from the Orissa Police to nab Biti as soon as possible."

Some police sources say that Biti has left the country after he jumped parole. His father BB Mohanty says he suspects his son might be dead. Whatever might be the case, the fact remains that neither the Rajasthan Police nor the Orissa Police seem to be making a serious effort to catch Biti Mohanti.
