Organisers of Jallikattu demand revoking of ban

MADURAI: About 50 organisers of Jallikattu (taming the bull) festival today presented a memorandum to the PA to the Collector Ali Akbar demanding that the centre revoke the ban on it.The organisers claimed the centre had banned using lions, Bears, tigers Cheetas in shows and circuses. Along with the list of wild animals they had added bulls and had banned any show or game using the bulls.They said Jallikattu was being organised in Tamil Nadu for several centuries and was a game which tests the courage and strength of youths and was part of the festival and cultural shows.Jallikattu in Tamil Nadu also attracted a lot tourists from various states, they said.
