BANGALORE: The Lokayukta Special Court  reserved its order on former minister Katta Subramanya Naidu’s bail petition on medical grounds till October 4. Naidu was arrested in connection with the multicrore KIADB land scam and presently is under treatment for various health problems at Victoria Hospital. On Wednesday, Lokayukta Special Court Judge N K Sudheendra Rao heard the arguments by  Public Prosecutor  Pramod Chandra and Naidu’s counsel Ravi B Naik. Naidu has moved the court seeking bail on medical grounds as he his suffering from cancer and other health problems. In his argument, Naik requested the court that his client should be granted bail on health grounds as he is suffering from cancer and cited a few orders given by the Supreme Court related to granting bail to the accused suffering from serious health problems. “My client has already undergone surgery and his stem cell has been preserved at a hospital in London. So, bail should be granted to him as he needs medical treatment for cancer, which is in the final stages,” Naik argued. For this, the judge asked him whether he was sure about the stem cells of the accused being still active and Naik submitted to the court a copy of an e-mail sent by a private hospital in London, where the stem cells were preserved. “We have spoken to the hospital authorities in London and they have sent us a copy mentioning the stem cells. They have also stated that the patient requires further medical treatment and they are ready to treat him,” Naik informed the court. But the judge asked Naik to first subject the accused to biopsy test to know about the intensity of cancer and what treatment he should be given. For this Naik told the court that if the court permits, the accused will undergo the biopsy test at Lilavathi Hospital or Tata Memorial Centre hospital in Mumbai, where he had undergone treatment in 2004. For this, the judge directed Naik to submit an action plan about the course of treatment that would be given to Naidu. Naik told court that he would do that in 3-4 days.Later, Public Prosecutor Pramod Chandra  argued that the court should grant bail to the accused only after going through the biopsy test report. “If at all the court grants him the bail, it should be an interim bail and not a regular bail,” he added.
