One of the 21 people missing from Kerala since the past one month and suspected to have joined ISIS was held in Mumbai on Sunday and interrogators suspect that he might have been on his way to Syria.

Agencies are also scrutinising all the possible checkpoints to figure out which way the 21 individuals from Kerala could have left India.

Until Saturday the number of missing stood at 16 but has risen to 21.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan raised the issue in the assembly on Monday and blamed vested interests for trying to take advantage of the situation by keeping the entire Muslim community under a cloud of suspicion.

"The entire state is against such terrorist activities. Only a small percentage is showing such inclination and all efforts are being made to track them down," Vijayan added.

Earlier, Intelligence sources had confirmed that at least 2 out of 21 missing people may have joined the ISIS.

At least four out the 21 individuals belong to Christian and Hindu families and had converted to Islam over a year ago.

Two of the individuals even sent text and voice messages to their families confirming that they have moved to a remote location.

The state police however continue to deny any clear evidence to prove the ISIS link.

Meanhwile, IB teams visited the families of those who went missing in Kasargod.
