BHUBANESWAR: The State Government will shortly send the action plan under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) to the Centre for approval.Though the Government had decided to include all the blocks under NRLM in phases during the next five years, the programme will be implemented in four blocks each of 10 integrated action plan (IAP) districts on a pilot basis.The Centre has identified 18 out of 30 districts for implementation of IAP.The NRLM action plan was discussed at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary BK Patnaik. It was decided to put a dedicated machinery at block, district and State level for implementation of NRLM and the manpower requirement will be more than 7,000.The Chief Secretary reportedly told concerned departments to put proper mechanism in place for capacity building of the beneficiaries.Skill upgradation of the targeted people is key to income generating activities, he added.Earlier, the Government had taken a decision to cover those blocks where poverty reduction missions like Western Orissa Rural Livelihood Project (WORLP) and Orissa Tribal Empowerment and Livelihoods Programme (OTELP) are being implemented.Development Commissioner RN Senapati, the Secretaries of Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development, Forest, Finance, Panchayati Raj and Women and Child Development were present.
