CHENNAI: The fourth National Art Conference in Bharathanatyam and Kuchipudi, Nritya Sangama, took place on September 3 and 4 at the Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan. It was organised by the Saila Sudha — Academy of Excellence. On day one, Averee Chaurey and Minoti Chatterjee made a presentation titled In search of Tagore through his prose and poetry. The guest of honour Michelle Zjhra, Vice Consul – US Embassy, Chennai, was present at the inaugural event along with TH Vikku Vinayakram, Ghatam Maestro and PK Doraiswamy, former Special Chief Secretary, Government of Andhra Pradesh. The event was convened by Sailaja. In the evening session, Roja Kannan performed a guru samarpanam. Students of Saila Sudha also performed a kuchipudi ballet called Chandalika. The event was conducted as part of the school’s 23rd anniversary celebrations, promoting Bharathanatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak, Mohiniyattam and Gotipua.
