BANGALORE: Describing the victory of Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh as a new and distinct possibility for the revival of the Third Front, JD(S) working president P G R Sindhia has said his party’s efforts would be to increase its strength in the Legislature and Parliament for an important role in the future.“Revival of an alternative to the UPA and the NDA may be difficult but not impossible.Our concrete and credible information is that many smaller parties who are in these two blocks are planning to come out.We have to get ready to offer an alternative,” he said while speaking t o E x p r e s s f r o m Narasimharajapura in Chickamagalur district on Saturday.According to him, the credit for bringing a credible and viable alternative to the Congress and the BJP should go to the undivided Janata Dal that marked a new era in Indian politics since 1988.“It goes without saying that the JD(S) in Karnataka in the South and the SP in the North will have to play a similar role.I am sure our leader H D Deve Gowda is planning to meet SP supremo Mulayum Singh Yadav shortly,” added Sindhia.Yadav was the defence minister in the Union cabinet headed by Deve Gowda during 1996-97.Sindhia said to lend strength at the national level for the formation of Third Front, the JD(S) will need increase its electoral base for which strategies would be worked out after the Udupi- Chikamagalur by-election.“After the results of the UP and other four state elections were out, some of us campaigning in Chikamagalur had discussion about the s of the same.H D Kumaraswamy called Mulayam and Akhilesh and complimented them,” he said.
