No admission before January, schools told

The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has warned private unaided schools in the state not to start admission process for the academic year 2013-14 before January as it amounts to violation of provisions of the RTE Act.

In a public notice issued on Tuesday, Commissioner for Public Instruction S R Umashankar said, “It is hereby brought to the notice of general public and parents that admissions made by schools, before notification of calendar of events, will become illegal and are automatically liable for cancellation. The department will not recognise such admissions. Parents are hereby cautioned that they do not get into such trouble.”

The DPI stipulates that the of admissions would begin from January next year and a calendar of events for this would be notified.
