New Delhi: Quite often producers feel the need of generating controversies to promote their films. However, this is not the case with ‘Muran’, a soon to be released Tamil film.
One of its heroines Nikitha Thukral has already shot to limelight with her alleged involvement in actor Darshan’s domestic violence case.
Nikitha’s alleged role play in Kannada actor Darshan’s wife bashing has given her ample media space and thus ‘Muran’ is expected to receive a good opening.
‘Muran’, written and directed by Rajjan Madhav, is a Tamil thriller with Cheran, Prasanna, Haripriya, Jayaprakash and Nikitha in prominent roles.
Made under the banner of UTV Motion Pictures, ‘Muran’ is said to be based on legendry director Alfred Hitchcock’s thriller ‘Strangers on a Train’.
Cheran will be seen playing a guitarist in debutant Rajjan Madhav’s film which boasts of heart stopping actions and breath taking songs.
The film portrays the life changing experience of two different people who meet on a highway.
If grapevine are to believed then the lead actor of the film Cheran had gone under rigorous training to make his role believable as a guitarist.
The film also has the impression of great Malayalam music composer Raveendran Master, whose two sons are closely associated with the film. One of his sons Sajjan Madhav has given the music for the film while the other son Rajjan Madhav is the director.
UTV Motion Pictures is entering the Tamil film production with ‘Muran’.
The basic storyline of ‘Muran’ was written around three years ago, but Rajjan Madhav did not get the funding with the star cast of his choice. Finally, Cheran decided to produce the film, but the film again hanged in the middle when Cheran found it difficult to manage funds.
The director then showed the film to UTV Motion Pictures, which agreed to produce the film.
The film is more in news for one of its heroines Nikitha Thukral than any other reason. Known for her item number ‘Kodana Kodi’ in ‘Saroja’, Nikitha was recently banned by the Kannada Film Producers' Association (KFPA) for an alleged relationship with actor Darshan. The association had banned Nikitha from doing any Kannada film for three years.
Later the ban was revoked due to the pressure created by imminent film personalities.
However, the still fresh controversy can manage ‘Muran’ a good opening day on September 23.
