The Jaipur-based Vipra Swabhiman Mahasangh (VSM) has filed a police complaint against National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) for allegedly misrepresenting historical facts in its Class 12 textbooks. The Mahasangh alleges that the distorted facts in the history textbooks are derogatory to a certain community. The FIR mentions the names of Hari Vasudevan, chairman of curriculum committee, and, professor of history at Kolkata University, and Neeladri Bhattacharya, chief advisor, and, professor of history at Jawaharlal Nehru University.
Sriganganagar: Educational institution remains closed to pay homage to accident victims
With the death of a 15-year-old girl on Wednesday, the number of children killed in Tuesday’s school van-truck collision in Goluwala town in Hanumangarh rose to 12. Priyanka ‘Pinky’ Sharma, daughter of 44-LLW-resident Tekchand Sharma, died at 8.30 am at a private hospital in Sriganganagar. Doctors attending to the 24 students injured in the accident said they were out of danger. To pay homage to the accident victims, several schools and colleges in the district remained closed on Wednesday.
Ranthambhore: Two new cubs sighted in National Park
Amidst concerns over missing tigers in Ranthambhore National Park, there is good news. Three tigresses are learnt to have given birth to cubs this monsoon so far. The officials have noticed pug marks of newly born cubs though they are yet to be captured in trap cameras. Forest and environment minister Bina Kak said evidence of a cub to T 26 (Sharmelee) has been found through camera traps installed in the Mai Dang region which is her territory. She said the cub seems to be about three months old. The photo shows only one cub. The evidence of more cubs is being verified through camera traps and pug marks, said Kak. Kak said also ordered formation of a team to look ST 6 tiger in Sariska tiger reserve who is suffering from a tumour on the face. She said the tumour would be operated upon if need be.
Jaipur: Players demand financial help for javelin thrower
Athletes training at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium demanded justice for the javelin thrower Preetam Singh, who was stabbed on Saturday night in Lal Kothi area. National medalist shot-putter Shakti Singh, Vivek, former national athlete, Railway employee Omveer Graval and about two dozen players closed the main entrance of the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in protest. They demanded that government or the sports council should fund his medical expenses.
